From identity and the female body in Arsenault’s work, to the traces left by those who have passed away in Bellavance’s, and the historical representations of psychiatry revisited by Jolicœur, their practices address childhood, grief, illness, and vulnerability, making the image a powerful act of resistance. The issue also includes three essays that take a critical look at artistic practices and the issues shaping contemporary photography.
