Not hiding his enthusiasm for Françoise Sullivan’s body of work - “Even in her nineties,” he writes, “[she] never ceases to inspire” – Didier Morelli writes that the exhibition devoted to the works she produced in Italy in the 1970s delivered “another testament to her enduring legacy [and relevance].” Organized with the support of curator Louise Déry, Françoise Sullivan: The 1970s connected Sullivan’s “conceptual, aesthetic, and political identity” to the arte povera movement and the Situationist International. The exhibition presented never-before-seen works and innovated by reorganizing others, including the photographic frieze drawn from a performance around a temple in Rome, thus “giv[ing] a new sense of time and space to the initial action,” writes Morelli.
