The energetic herbarium developed by Marie-Jeanne Musiol since the 1990s—created without a camera and through electrical discharge—was the subject of an exhibition highlighting her recent images. Invited to comment on Musiol’s electrophotography, Pierre Dessureault ascribes to these representations of nature the ability to reveal what the eye cannot see. His observations place the Québec photographer in the lineage of Anna Atkins, Karl Blossfeldt, and even Pierre Soulages, the painter of Outrenoir.
