Summary

Entitled Plants and Gardens, this issue’s thematic feature highlights the work of three artists — Sara Angelucci, Sara A.Tremblay, and Frédéric Lavoie — whose photographic practices explore the plant world and the species that inhabit it, approached with particular care and attention. Through close observation of flowers and plants, insects, and natural environments, they explore our relationship with the living world through autobiographical, documentary, and poetic approaches.

The issue also includes three essays. The first, on the exhibition Le monde selon l’IA (Jeu de Paume, Paris), examines the relationship between art and artificial intelligence. The second focuses on I See Stars in the Deep Dark  (Galerie Pierre-François Ouellette, Montreal), an exhibition devoted to the luminous imprints of plants in the work of Marie-Jeanne Musiol. The third looks back at My Eyes Deceive the Bees,  held at the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art in Warsaw.

In an interview, curator, publisher, and designer Jeff Khonsary discusses Fillip Editions and the extensive visual index that brings together twenty years of images from their publications.

Finally, the Actualité section offers an overview of recent exhibitions in Quebec and across Canada, including 1985. Mondes-images and solo shows by Sébastien Cliche, Laure Prouvost, Jeff Thomas, Thomas Kneubühler, Lorna Bauer, Léna Mill-Reuillard, and Leyla Majeri, as well as reviews of three recent books on photography.
