Can history be attributed with absolute truth? The exhibition From Slander’s Brand brings together three artists (Rachel Khedoori, Ron Terada, Hannah Darabi) who contest the utter verity represented by the past and its historical documents. Kelly Midori McCormick looks most closely at works by Darabi, who concentrates on a short period in contemporary Iran (1979–83) – a period without censorship, to be sure, but not free of fallacious propaganda.
