Over the course of its existence, the Stock Photo Agency contributed, as an entity independent from media conglomerates, to enriching documentary photography in Quebec. This first publication dedicated to the agency, released seven years after its dissolution, highlights the uniqueness of each of its members—somewhat like “a photographic conversation” spanning thirty years of history, as Sophie Mangado writes. She comments on the texts and editorial choices, as well as on images that, in her view, reveal “the troubling persistence of societal phenomena.”
