To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Vox curated an exhibition reflecting the era of its founding, bringing together photographs and videos by thirty artists, as well as documents and artifacts. The narrative thread was difficult to follow, according to Hélène Samson, who nonetheless acknowledges the challenge taken on by curator Marie J. Jean. Her choices honored the 1980s by evoking the rise of artist-run centers and“the development of technologies for social coercion.”
